About The Instructor
Hi, I’m Sofiya Leshchinsky—a violinist, educator, and lifelong lover of music. My journey with the violin began when I was six years old, shortly after my family moved from Ukraine to the beautiful coastal city of Santa Barbara. From the moment I held a violin, I knew music would be a central part of my life. What started as childhood fascination soon became a lifelong passion, leading me to perform in orchestras, chamber ensembles, and concert halls.
In 2018, I graduated from Biola University’s Conservatory of Music with a double major in violin performance and music education. With over two decades of experience as a musician and more than five years of teaching in both private and public school settings, I am deeply committed to helping students develop their musical skills. I hold a California teaching credential and believe that every child has the ability to learn music in the same way they acquire language—with the right guidance, encouragement, and nurturing environment. My teaching philosophy is rooted in fostering both technical proficiency and a deep appreciation for music as a form of storytelling.
Music is not just a passion for me—it’s also an act of worship. I love that I can use my violin to glorify God, expressing both joy and devotion through each note I play. One verse that continually inspires me is Psalm 33:3: "Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully on the strings with joy." This verse is my violin motto, reminding me that music is a gift meant to be offered with both excellence and joy.
Beyond music, I am blessed to share my life with my wonderful husband and our sweetest baby girl. Family and music are my greatest joys, and I cherish every opportunity to bring them together. Whether performing, teaching, or simply sharing the beauty of music, my goal is to inspire and equip students to reach their highest potential while cultivating a lifelong love for their instrument.
